The subfloor is the job
Almost every flooring complaint we get called out to fix traces back to the subfloor. Slab-on-grade homes across the Houston area move, and a slab that's out by a quarter inch over ten feet will make a floating floor click, gap and eventually separate at the seams. We check flatness with a straightedge before quoting, and if it needs self-levelling compound or grinding, that goes on the quote as its own line — not as a surprise change order once the old floor is up.
What we install
Luxury vinyl plank and tile (the workhorse for Houston humidity and the most common choice on our jobs), laminate, engineered and solid hardwood, and ceramic or porcelain tile. We handle demo and haul-off of the old floor, moisture barrier and underlayment, transitions between rooms, and shoe moulding or baseboard reinstall so the edges look finished.
Wet areas and moisture
Bathrooms, laundry rooms and kitchens get materials rated for water and a proper perimeter detail. On concrete slabs we check for moisture before laying anything that traps it. In an area where a single slow leak under a dishwasher can take out a whole floor, that check is cheap insurance.
What changes your price
Material choice is the biggest single factor and it's entirely yours to control — LVP and a wide-plank hardwood are the same labor and wildly different material cost. Beyond that: how much levelling the subfloor needs, whether there's tile to demo (slow and dusty) versus carpet (fast), stairs, diagonal or herringbone patterns, and how many transitions and closets are in the run.
